New Delhi: Authorities on Wednesday took down “illegal portions” of the main accused in a sexual exploitation case in Maharashtra’s Amaravati. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ayaz, alias Tanveer, constructed some portions of his house illegally which was bulldozed.
Earlier, the Achalpur Municipal Council issued a notice to the family, and heavy police was deployed outside their residence. According to reports, BJP MLA Pravin Tayade was present to oversee the action.
Alleged assault of 180 minors
According to reports, Tanveer allegedly assaulted 180 minors and has been charged with sexual assault, sexual harassment and recording obscene videos.
The police have so far arrested four accused including 19-year-old Mohammad Ayaz for allegedly luring girls into a “love trap,” and filming obscene videos. The accused have also confessed to sharing videos and pics with others. Some visuals of Ayaz with the unsuspecting girls went viral on social media, this led to his arrest.
According to officials, at least 18 videos and 39 photographs have been recovered so far, and more complaints are expected, which could lead to additional arrests. Police have urged victims to come forward, assuring that their identities will be kept confidential.
SIT formed to probe the incident
The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with calls for a shutdown in Achalpur and Paratwada. Heavy security has been deployed across the region, including riot control units, to prevent any untoward incidents during protests.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the incident.
Ayaz has been remanded to seven days of police custody after he was produced before a court. The cops have also seized his mobile phone. Further investigations are underway.
In the latest developments regarding the high-profile assault case in Amravati, Maharashtra, authorities have taken decisive administrative and legal action against the main accused.

1. Demolition of Illegal Structures
Following the arrest of the primary accused, identified as Ayan Ahmed Tanvir Ahmed (19), the Achalpur Municipal Council carried out a demolition drive at his residence in the Paratwada area.
Targeted Portions: Authorities used a JCB to demolish an illegal iron staircase and other encroachments that were built without permission outside his single-storey house.
Due Process: Officials stated that a formal notice regarding the illegal construction had been served to the family prior to the action.
Security: A heavy police presence, including senior officials and local MLAs, was on-site to monitor the demolition and prevent any law-and-order issues amidst widespread public outrage.
2. Formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT)
To ensure a thorough probe into the digital and physical aspects of the case, the Amravati (Rural) Superintendent of Police has officially formed an SIT.
Composition: The team consists of 11 officers and 36 constables, led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Scope of Investigation: The SIT is investigating allegations that the accused lured victims, recorded hundreds of obscene videos without consent, and circulated them on social media.
Current Evidence: While initial reports suggested a massive number of victims, the SIT has so far identified approximately 18 videos and 39 images, with forensic experts working to retrieve deleted data from seized mobile devices.
3. Case Background & Legal Charges
The accused was arrested on April 14, 2026, and has been remanded to police custody until April 21.
Charges: A case has been registered under the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), the IT Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Public Response: The incident led to a massive protest and a bandh (shutdown) in the Achalpur and Paratwada regions. Local authorities have urged victims and their families to come forward, promising that their identities will remain strictly confidential.
The Maharashtra government has indicated that this case will be fast-tracked to ensure swift justice for the victims involved.
