Pune man, 23, beaten to death over friendship with minor girl

 

A 23-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in Pune by a group of people following a dispute over his friendship with a minor girl. The victim, identified as Nagesh Sanjay Jadhav, had a good relationship with the girl and the two often held long conversations over the phone, which allegedly angered the girl's family. As a result, they called Jadhav to their residence from the girl's phone and then beat him to death.

The incident took place on Saturday (March 14) evening. Around 7.15 pm, Jadhav received a call and left his house immediately on his motorcycle. After 45 minutes, his mother received a call where the caller abused her and said that Jadhav had been beaten up badly. The unidentified person further warned that if Nagesh's family did not come and take Nagesh away in 10 minutes, then they would throw him down.

After the phone call, Nagesh's mother, along with some relatives, rushed to the location. A large crowd was gathered in the area, and the people were informed that Nagesh was being assaulted on the terrace. As soon as the relatives arrived at the terrace, they found Nagesh lying on the floor, severely injured. His clothes were torn, and his relatives found wooden sticks all over the place.

Nagesh was soon sent to a nearby hospital. However, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was referred to another hospital, where he was declared dead.

Following the incident, a police complaint was lodged, and while investigating, the police arrested six of the seven people allegedly involved in the crime. The police are presently looking for the seventh one.

• The Trap: On the evening of Saturday, March 14, 2026, Nagesh reportedly received a message or call from the minor girl's phone asking him to meet.

• The Assault: When he reached a residential building in the Mega City area of Kothrud, he was confronted by a group of about 10 people. He was taken to the terrace and brutally assaulted with wooden sticks, fists, and kicks.

  
  
  

• The Phone Call: Around 8:00 PM, Nagesh’s mother received a call from his phone. The caller allegedly abused her, informed her that her son had been "beaten up badly," and threatened to "throw him down" if the family did not come to collect him within 10 minutes.

• Death: Nagesh’s mother and relatives rushed to the spot and found him severely injured on the terrace. He was taken to a private hospital and later shifted to Sassoon General Hospital, where he was declared dead due to internal injuries.

Police Action and Arrests

The Kothrud police have registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

• Arrests Made: Six members of the girl's family have been arrested so far, including five women and one man.

• Accused Identified: Those arrested include Vrushali Anil Shinde, Sunita Sunil Shinde, Jayashree Laxman Shinde, Tulsi Yogesh Shinde, Ganga Sanjay Pawar, and Anil Shyamrao Shinde.

  
  
  

• Ongoing Search: Police are currently searching for four other suspects who were allegedly involved in the attack.

The authorities noted that while the family was reportedly upset over the relationship, they never approached the police with a formal complaint, choosing instead to take the law into their own hands.
