He also knew it: Former cricketer hands Mohammed Amir reality check for his predictions on Team India

T20 World Cup 2026: Former Pakistan player Mohammed Amir, who is part of a TV show in Pakistan, has been under a lot of criticism for his sensational predictions around Team India's campaign and its players. As a panelist on the show, Amir caught the public eye for his comments on India's swashbuckling batter Abhishek Sharma, calling him a 'slogger'. What followed was his incessant rant about India's fate after their loss to South Africa in the Super Eight stage. He even stated that India won't qualify for the semifinals.

However, all the predictions got flushed down the drain as India defeated West Indies to set up a semifinal clash against England.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif, in his latest YouTube video, called out Amir's rants, stating that the fast bowler knew all along that India would qualify for the semis. He also suggested Indian fans not to ‘go down to his level’ to reply.

Amir continued his 'broken record' again stating that India won't qualify for the finals as they will lose to England in the knockout match.

“Did Amir really not know that India would reach the semifinals? He also knew it, that the defending champions would make it. But because it will become news, they do all these things," Kaif said.

Amir got scared against USA: Kaif

Kaif countered Amir's remarks by bringing up Pakistan's unexpected defeat to the USA during the 2024 T20 World Cup. He pointed out Amir's performance in the Super Over, suggesting that the fast bowler wasn't in a position to critique others.

“The loss that they faced against the USA in 2024, it was the same bowler who was the reason. In that over, there was only one boundary, but too many wides. His ball didn’t even land on the stumps," Kaif said.

“Who got scared against that USA team and made his team lose the game, then I don’t have to say more. Why are we focusing on him? The country that is so behind in the sport, they have no players, no solid captain, or a solid bowler, nothing," Kaif added.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has hit back at Mohammad Amir, handing him a sharp "reality check" for his controversial predictions regarding Team India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Amir had initially predicted that India would not even reach the semi-finals, backing South Africa and West Indies to qualify instead. After India proved him wrong by defeating West Indies in a record chase at Eden Gardens, Amir doubled down, claiming India are "not favorites" against England and will not reach the final.

The "Reality Check" from Mohammad Kaif

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif dismissed Amir’s comments as desperate attempts to stay relevant and gain "clout."

  • The "He Knew It" Remark: Kaif stated that Amir was fully aware of India’s strength but chose to speak against them for media attention.

“Did Amir honestly think India wouldn't make the semifinals? He also knew it, just like he knew the defending champions would advance. But because it will become news, they do all these things.”

  • Reminder of the 2024 "Scare": Kaif took a jab at Amir’s own past performance, reminding fans of the 2024 T20 World Cup where Amir conceded 18 runs (including multiple wides) in a Super Over against the USA, leading to Pakistan’s shock exit. Kaif suggested that a bowler who "got intimidated by the USA team" shouldn't be questioning India’s caliber.

  • Call for Ignorance: Kaif urged Indian fans and experts not to "stoop to that level" by giving importance to such remarks from a country whose cricket is currently "far behind" in terms of captaincy and quality.

Amir’s Latest Stance vs. Reality

Despite being trolled on social media as a "failed astrologer," Amir has maintained his critique of the Indian side ahead of the semi-final at Wankhede:

Amir's CritiqueThe Counter-Reality
"One-man bowling attack"While Bumrah is the leader, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav have provided crucial breakthroughs throughout the tournament.
"Batting Collapses"India just pulled off their highest-ever T20 WC chase (196) against West Indies, led by Sanju Samson’s 97*.
"England are Favourites"Most experts consider the match a 50-50 toss-up, with India having the "home advantage" in Mumbai.

The drama now moves to the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium. Would you like me to provide the live toss update or the confirmed Playing XI for the India vs England clash?
