Bad news for Bangladesh after termination of Mustafizur Rahman's IPL contract, ICC has WARNED them to...©IANS

In these collection of pictures, we find out about the bad news which has come for Bangladesh Cricket Board after ICC's warning ahead of T20 World Cup 2026.In a major development for Asian cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly issued a stern warning to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following the abrupt termination of pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL 2026 contract.

The standoff has escalated into a diplomatic and cricketing crisis between India and Bangladesh, centered around the upcoming T20 World Cup (scheduled for February 7 – March 8, 2026).

The Trigger: Mustafizur’s IPL Exit

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had signed Mustafizur Rahman for ₹9.20 crore at the auction. However, the BCCI reportedly directed KKR to terminate his contract, citing "developments all around" and security concerns linked to recent political tensions.

  • Bangladesh’s Reaction: In retaliation, the Bangladesh government banned the broadcast of the IPL and the BCB revoked Mustafizur's No Objection Certificate (NOC).

  • The World Cup Demand: Citing the BCCI’s own security concerns as a precedent, Bangladesh officially requested the ICC to shift their T20 World Cup group matches from India to co-host Sri Lanka.

The ICC’s Warning: "Play or Forfeit"

Following a virtual meeting on January 6, 2026, the ICC rejected Bangladesh's request for a venue change. The ICC’s message to the BCB was reportedly twofold:

  1. Mandatory Participation: The ICC warned that Bangladesh is obliged to travel to India for their scheduled matches (at Eden Gardens and Wankhede Stadium).

  2. Forfeiture of Points: If Bangladesh refuses to tour India, they will forfeit all points for those matches, leading to an immediate group-stage exit.

  3. No "Hybrid Model": Unlike the India-Pakistan situation, the ICC stated that there is no "logical or valid reason" to shift Bangladesh's matches, as the BCCI has guaranteed full state-level security for all participating teams.

Where It Stands Now

The Bangladesh government, through Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul, remains adamant, stating, "We won’t stand for any insult to our cricketers. National dignity is more important than the tournament." | Key Detail | Information |

| :--- | :--- |

| Mustafizur's Loss | Lost ₹9.20 Cr contract; no insurance payout likely. |

| Bangladesh Group | Group C (with West Indies, England, Italy, and Nepal). |

| Standoff Status | BCB is seeking a "neutral venue" model similar to Pakistan's. |

| ICC Stance | Schedule remains unchanged; security is guaranteed. |

Would you like me to keep an eye on the ICC’s final decision regarding a potential replacement team if Bangladesh decides to withdraw?
